HOW TO APPROACH THE SECRET



Approach before debunk time.


Katabasis

Any user who approaches the BUNKER secret site from the continent will have to descend the dunes above the site, while at the same time describing a semi-circular movement in order to reach the entrance facing seawards. This achieved, the user will have to perform a katabasis (cf. fig. 68) into the orchestra of the BUNKER site.

The significance of the descent into the orchestra is to reset user in pre-historic conditions. The orchestra plateau corresponds, in fact, to the Paleolithic era (-> 10000 years B.C.).

From the orchestra, three paths can be chosen. Straight ahead, steps are leading upwards to the BUNKER chamber (cf. Anabasis). To the left, an opening leads to the Neanderthal Room1: this is a dead end, where only retrograde movement can be made. To the right, another opening leads to the Cro Magnon Department2, consisting of two rooms en suite. Here, progressive as well as retrograde movements can be made. The user will, presumably, not fail to notice traces of wall painting to this side.

Anabasis

The first part of the anabasis towards the BUNKER secret consists of four regular steps, leading to an extended landing.

The four steps correspond to the immigration into Northern Jutland and Vendsyssel, following the stabilization of climatic conditions at the end of the last Ice Age, about 8000 B.C. The landing corresponds to the Mesolithic era: locally, the Maglemose Culture (8000-4000 B.C.), was succeeded by the Ertebølle Culture (about 4500-3000). These cultures are, both, hunters and fishers, though of different origins.

The second part of the anabasis towards the BUNKER secret consists of eight regular steps, leading to a minor landing.

The eight regular steps correspond to the onset and proliferation of the Neolithic Revolution, i.e. the establishment of "self-sufficient food-producing communities" (V. Gordon Childe) or, in other words, of Stone Age agricultural settlements.

At the landing, an opening to the left gives way to a narrow stairway of a dozen steps, leading to the Observatory (cf. fig. 47).

The landing is the plateau of Bronze Age. This is, in fact, the golden age of Astronomy. The steps of the Observatory stairway count the centuries of the Bronze Age (ca. 1500-400 B.C.). The octagon of the Observatory itself represents the unchanging points of the compass (Dan. verdenshjørner).

The third part of the anabasis towards the BUNKER secret consists of another eight regular steps, the access to which, however, is barred by an iron gate. Two large light projectors, situated immediately behind the iron gate, keep the upper portion of the stairway brightly illuminated.

The iron gate, evidently, marks the beginning of Iron Age (400 B.C. and onwards), the era of industry, enlightenment and imperialism. The light projectors indicate the general tendency of this epoch, insistingly directed towards disclosure of the future and any secret that it might hold. In the North this period is inaugurated by the Romans; its end is signaled by the retreat of the German bunker-building forces in 1945. The eight steps beyond the iron gate represent the major advances of the era of Christianity, each step roughly corresponding to a span of 300 years (or, alternately, 1 year to a length of 0.7 mm).

The first and second steps represent the advent of Christianity: indeed, the very threshold of the new era is marked by the physical (cf. fig. 69) position of the upwardly directed projectors, bringing Light to the World of human history (cf. the Gospel according to St. John). Thus Man is still confined to Earth; but the celestial sphere is no longer absolutely out of reach. The maximum speed of Man, however, is set by the horse.

The third, fourth and fifth steps represent the Middle Ages. Man is still confined to Earth; but through his words and deeds he seeks to embrace the celestial sphere. Human action is no longer confined to the present moment. The maximum speed of Man is set by the speed of his handwriting.

By means of construction and invention, Man begins conquering physical, visual, geographical and historical space. The idea of approaching the celestial sphere through suitable technical devices, is born. The maximum speed of Man is set by his vision; Space itself is set by the horizon.

The seventh step represents the Ages of Baroque and Enlightenment. Man is still confined to Earth; but Earth itself has started moving through Infinity. The thought of Man now supersedes his vision; knowledge is becoming encyclopedic. Space is gradually revealed as a field of dynamics, rather than an empty geometry. The World has started folding. Man is no longer One. Representation has become recursive and virtually infinite. The Age of Capital is inaugurated. The maximum speed of Man is set by his calculating powers only.

The eighth step repr#sents the Modern Ages. Initially, Man is still confined to Earth; but at the end of this era, he will defeat g ravity. The physiological and intellectual functions of Man will gradually be taken over by m #chines. Man becomes capable not only of controlling Nature, but eventually of destroying it. Society is replaced by world-wide mass organisation through pre-electronic and electronic media, such as newspapers, radio and TV broadcast, film and music industry. Art is gradually retreating from publicity. The end of Modern Age is presaged by the advent of the Silicon Age (1948 and onwards). The maximu# speed of man is limited by the velocity of light only: the light projected towards the future since the advent of Christianity is reflected unto itself.
